くっつける【食っ付ける】

1 〔付着させる〕 make sth stick [adhere, cling] 《to…》; 〔接着させる〕 stick 《sth to…》; (のりで) paste 《sth on(to)…》; (にかわで) glue 《sth on(to)…》; 〔接合する〕 attach [tack on] 《sth to…》.

●髪飾りをいっぱいくっつける stick on lots of hair ornaments.

●靴に泥をくっつけたまま歩いている. She's walking with muddy shoes (on her feet).

・こわれた取っ手は接着剤でしっかりくっつけた. I did a careful job of glu(e)ing the broken handle on with cement.

・彼女は指に指輪をいっぱいくっつけている. She's stuck loads of rings onto her fingers.

2 〔近接させる〕 put [place, set] together [up close].

●机をくっつけて並べる place [put, set] desks side by side in a row

・壁にくっつけて車を停める park a car (right) up against a wall.

●本を目にくっつけるようにして読んでいる. He's reading with the book held (right) up close to his eyes.

3 〔結婚させる〕 make sb get hitched.

●彼を彼女とくっつけてやろう. I'll get him hitched with her.
